M.U.G.E.N Wiki:Language policy
From M.U.G.E.N Wiki
Multiple Language in One Wiki
The default language of M.U.G.E.N Wiki is English. The standard when creating new pages in other languages is to:
- Create a subpage with the code of the language. See Template:Languages for acceptable codes.
- Add the {{Language}} template to the bottom of the new page.
For example, a Japanese translation of a document titled "CNS Reference" may be named "CNS Reference/ja".
Translated Pages
When translating content from an English source, the language bar will function correctly as long as the title of the translated page is the same as that of the English page.
When localizing the title of a page, it is recommended that you always create the page using the original English title appended with the language code suffix. Then, add the DISPLAYTITLE magic word at the top of the translated page to display the localized title:
{{DISPLAYTITLE:My Translated Title}}
By retaining the original page title, the {{Language}} template will function correctly without the need to create redirects.
Categories
The category of a page in a non-English language should always be appended with the code delimiter for the language, e.g. a French translation of a reference document would be in the category:
[[Category:Reference Documentation/fr]]
