Mugen 1.1 Info Request.
« on: April 07, 2012, 07:16:12 am »

hello all.

Several months have elapsed since the last release.
Any news about the 1.1 version of Mugen?
There are new features? Bug fixes?

Unfortunately I can not use the Mugen 1.0, as a record low FPS in this stage: sky_city_tokyo.
Obviously, also in other stages in HR.
I already tried with DirectX and OpenGL parameters.
Do not change anything -. -

My setup is pretty powerful:
CPU: Intel Q9550 3.2Ghz - 12Mb Cache L2 + with Arctic Freezer 13 MX-3 (54 ° C at full load [IBT test + Prime])
RAM: 8GB DDR2 800MHz, 4x2Gb - Full dual channel
GPU: Sapphire Vapor-X HD 5850 1GB GDDR5
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

Unfortunately because of these problems can not use the mugen 1.0, and are bound to Winmugen Plus

notes:
The PC has no viruses / malware / spyware.
Yes I tried the Mugen 1.0 even after it was formatted.
is slow anyway.

Thanks for any information, and for your attention.
Thanks to the whole community of Mugen, which helps to increase the range of chars, stages, screenpack & lifebars.
Thank you so much!
And thanks to Elecbyte for making sure that our dreams were turned into the game! ;)

Assume you're running it in the HD resolution. General experience has shown that HD for some reason is pretty crap. Change the resolution to 640x480 and you'll see a huge speed up.

Although i too would like news on 1.1 or in fact, news. News would be enough. Even if said news is "Hi, we still have lives and are not doing anything"

mugen 1.0 only uses single core and no multi-threading stuff, so it's all running through a single core of your cpu.

it doesn't use the gpu acceleration at all, even in dx/ogl modes, since those are there only to display the end result, not actually render the game.

that's why in hd resolutions it runs that badly. it's all running in software.

as for 1.1, what cyanide said. ever since the last alpha test release over a year ago it's been quiet.

Thanks alot Cyanide and serio for the reply!

Yes. i forgot the resolution. I use HD resolution ( 1280x720 ).

I have tried the 640x480 and this is a good solution to solve the problem.

The main problem is understanding why elecbyte has released a Mugen 1.0 (version 1.0, and fully functional in regard to the HD resolutions) even when nothing is complete.
Let me explain.
It should be a version 0.7b since the resolution with HD hardware acceleration is not yet fully supported.
Then I had a doubt.
I do not think that will do exactly as Elecbyte in 2002? That is, once again leaving the scene of mugen? ç_ç
They have been in a hurry to release version 1.0. Why?
I love it when a program reaches the perfection and completion ... but ...
For a year now, elecbyte has created a rift between those who are using the winmugen plus and those who use the mugen 1.0.
I speak of support for winmugen characters.
In fact, some authors do not update anymore their old characters.
I've been using the Winmugen Plus, what benefit can I have in use the mugen 1.0 at 640x480? Why should I convert stages / motif / chars for Mugen 1.0, if that does not fully support the HD (talk about for obtain stable 60fps)?
Currently, I am user of winmugen plus, and atm I only suffered a decline of upgrades for characters. (Rajaa, Pots, Kohaku).

Why, elecbyte not complete the software to make everyone happy? has been almost a year without updates.

Please ... give us some information ç___ç

Note: My english sux...so forgot this xD - Google translate ftw <.<

So, we must assume what you say in your signature...

???

Personally I was hoping they would say something, show some progress by January 18th, considering that day would be one full year with 1.0 being out. However, if I recall correctly that day there was a lot of protests around due to SOPA and PIPA. Maybe they preferred to remain silent that day because of that? I don't know.
I was expecting them to do something  in February or March, but nothing. Frankly, I would at least have expected them to post something, but VirtualTek told me they're not active, and your signature seems to confirm it.

The main problem is understanding why elecbyte has released a Mugen 1.0 (version 1.0, and fully functional in regard to the HD resolutions) even when nothing is complete.

Some things are actually complete. The only reasons  I migrated to 1.0 was stuff like AIlevel, and I was hoping they would at least fix all the bugs for 1.0. Certainly, I was expecting them to fix the bugs that are preventing my projects from working correctly.

Let me explain.
It should be a version 0.7b since the resolution with HD hardware acceleration is not yet fully supported.
HD is supported and works, but by software. hardware acceleration was to be brought with MUGEN 1.1, thus you can't say it should be a  0.7b version.

I do not think that will do exactly as Elecbyte in 2002? That is, once again leaving the scene of mugen? ç_ç
I pray they're not. I hope story will NOT repeat itself with the incomplete MUGEN 1.1 being leaked the same way WinMugen was leaked and Elecbyte disappeared. I really hope they come back soon.

They have been in a hurry to release version 1.0. Why?
I love it when a program reaches the perfection and completion ... but ...
For a year now, elecbyte has created a rift between those who are using the winmugen plus and those who use the mugen 1.0.
I speak of support for winmugen characters.
I don't know why you say this. MUGEN 1.0 has backwards compatibility. Most chars work correctly or require minimal fixes to work in 1.0. Also, about the resolution issue... I can play well at 1280x720 (GameWidth = 1280 GameHeight = 720) and I have a far older and less powerful machine than yours (Pentium D 2.66 Ghz, 2GB DDR2 RAM, Nvidia 9500GT, Windows XP.)

I must concede that my upgrade of N-Mario's Vent&Aile to 1.0 was a bit lame, but not because of me, yet because of MUGEN 1.0 having lost the freqmul parameter functionality, that's why I kept them compatible with both WinMugen and MUGEN 1.0 and I cannot upload to my site the final version which is for 1.0 only. The bugs in 1.0 remain as a constant problem for my projects.

Why, elecbyte not complete the software to make everyone happy? has been almost a year without updates.

Please ... give us some information ç___ç

Uh? it seems Google translator is now translating at least decent readable things   :D
Anyways... *sigh* we can only hope they will come back from their long silence and this time bringing MUGEN 1.1 beta with most if not all the bugs fixed for good.

I think the reason it's 1.0 now is because it should be bug free, the features mean nothing, I think the whole point was to get a mugen working that won't crash on you for engine errors. They call it the stable version and I think they're right, they corrected a lot of the major problems people complained about and have a successful program that can at least work reliably.

All that other stuff they have planned is probably just to improve on new features like that zooming thing.

my signature's more of a joke on how things look like. i really don't have any insider info either.

one idea is that they're still working on cns2 support and won't post a next alpha test version until that's ready, but some blog updates like once a month or two would be nice.

something like a progress report (cns2 implementation is around XX% done), or even a mention that they didn't forget about the fanbase and are still working on the engine.

stability, bugfixes and extra additions. sure, you can't run hd/full hd at 60 fps in 1.0, but in win you can't run hd at all. the 640x480 support in 1.0 is better than in win. and once/if 1.1 is released, your stages will already be compatible.

1.0 also doesn't crash as often as win does when it tries to play the music, since it has its own plugin engine instead of using the half assed winamp plugins, which were the reason for over 50% of the crashing in winmugen.

I don't think they left the scene, if they did then they would have propaply announced it. Maybe they are taking a pause or something but still we would like to get some news on 1.1 if possible, even if there is no progress being done there is no harm of letting the fans know this.
